Notes

Triennial music festivals took place in Birmingham from 1796. They developed from an initial series of concerts held from 1768 onwards to raise funds for Birmingham's first General Hospital in Summer Lane. Building work for the hospital had begun in 1766. The venue for these concerts was at the theatre in King Street, at St Philip's Church and the Town Hall.
