Notes

This drapery study is possibly related to the scene of 'Cupid Delivering Psyche', from the 'Cupid and Psyche' Series, based on an episode from William Morris' epic poem, 'The Earthly Paradise', or, from the St George Series, 'The Fight: St George Slaying the Dragon'. The drawing does not resemble the drapery in any version of the subject later executed. The medium and support (cream paper) suggest that it was executed at a different time from the rest of the similar studies.

Purchased and presented by subscribers, 1903.
