Notes | This work is related to the wood-engraving by the Dalziel Brothers which was published in The Cornhill Magazine to accompany Framley Parsonage by Anthony Trollope. The scene depicts Fanny Roberts telling her husband that the baliffs are at the door, intent on reclaiming Framley Parsonage. As the work is highly finished, however, it is likely to be a version made for sale rather than preparatory to the wood-engraving. | | Purchased and presented by subscribers, 1906. |
