Notes | In 1846 Ford Madox Brown began the cartoon 'Oure Ladye of Saturday Night' which depicted a madonna-like figure bathing a child with the help of an angel. This drawing is a study for the drapery of the angel holding a bowl of water. Brown made seperate studies for the arms, head and body of this figure, all of which are in the Birmingham collection.
