Notes

Cox left this watercolour incomplete, but its freedom and lack of finish give it a power of its own. The detail of the architecture is delicately defined in pencil, while the landscape is sketched in with free, confident underdrawing and bold washes of colour.

Presented by subscribers, 1907.
