One of 32 drawings illustrating verses by Thomas Hardy. According to the author's preface, the drawings date from about 1898 while many of the verses are earlier.The 'Wessex Poems' were first published in 1898 with the original drawings. This drawing illustrates the poem 'Her Death and After' and depicts a churchyard with Maumbury Rings beyond and a distant view of Dorchester.
