Notes | As with much of Wallis's work, this drawing is difficult to date. It may be of the early 1850s, when he is believed to have spent time in the Paris studio of Charles Gleyre (1806-74). Although it is likely that Wallis kept up the practice of life drawing for many years. The model holds a pole to help him maintain the pose. | Presented by Harold Wallis, 1918. |
