Notes | Previously attributed to Richard Parkes Bonington (1802-1828). Boys admired Bonington's mastery of the rendering of architecture and, as here, many of his works have been confused with those of Bonington. This sheet has been incorrectly marked 'RPB' at some later date, either by an unwitting collector or art dealer. The subject was a favourite one for Boys and he painted it at least 7 times. The building was demolished in 1831. | | Bequeathed by J Palmer Phillips, 1913. |
