Notes

Tissot often focused on finely dressed women adorned in the lateset fashions. This study from life does not relate to any known painting but the costume appears in several works of circa 1869. On the verso is a study of a model in the same dress for 'Jeunnes Femmes regardant des objects japonais', 1869 (Cincinnati, Private Collection).
