Notes

This is a working copy, made in 1862, by Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Co. after one of Brown's earliest designs for stained glass. The company were commissioned to produce two stained glass windows for St Peter's Church in Cranbourne, Berkshire. This cartoon is listed under 1862 in Hueffer's catalogue of Brown's designs for stained glass and is illustrated in the same volume (see 'Ford Madox Brown: A Record of his Life and Works' p. 445).
