Notes

Betty Elzea identifies this as one of six drawings in the collection which were originally part of the same sketchbook. The book included landscape sketches and drawings of landscapes and figures copied fom prints. She suggests that this landscape scene is 'probably a view near Weybourne, Norfolk' and that Sandys may have made the drawing whilst staying with his patron James Bulwer at Hunworth (Frederick Sandys 1829-1904: A Catalogue Raisonné, p. 148).

Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
