Notes | This version of 'The Soul Attains' shows little variation from the painting, now in the Collection of Lord Lloyd-Webber. Burne-Jones has slightly simplified the rich, angular folds of Pygmalion's robe and cloak. Most scholars agree, based on an excerpt from Georgiana Burne-Jones's 'Memorials', that the head of Pygmalion in Series Two was modelled by W A S Benson in the 1870s. | Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927. |
