A study for the final painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey.

One of thirteen studies for this subject in Birmingham's collection. In the final painting the head is shown full face, rather than slightly turned to the left

The final painting is now in the collection of Bristol City Art Gallery.

Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
