This is one of two related sketches for the oil painting 'The Temple of Love' in Tate, London (c.1868). Each putti is full length, standing to the right, with back to the viewer, the head and right arm raised. Only the middle study is complete.

Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
