One of eleven tracings in Birmingham's collection for 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris' 'The Earthly Paradise'.

The half-nude figure of Psyche sits as she waits for Cupid. For complete compositional sketches of this preparatory image see the 'Cupid and Psyche' sketchbook also in Birmingham's collection.
