From a bound volume containing 86 studies for illustrations to 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris' 'The Earthly Paradise'.

The final wood engravings differ considerably from the designs here. The brazier is omitted and the outdoor background shows a shrine within a walled garden with an open gate. There are also differences in the figures.

Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
