Notes | Like many of Whistler's seascapes, this watercolour is an exercise in creating colour harmonies and atmosphere. It combines simplicity of composition, pigment laid on with a dry brush, and a limited and subtle range of silvery tones to suggest the effects of light and mist on the sea. | | Presented by Mrs Giles in memory of her father, Wilson King, 1930. |
