A page from a sketchbook of copies of architectural and decorative details from Romanesque and Byzantine sources.

The sketch of the leaves is a sometime signature mark of Burne-Jones, in use beginning around 1865. They are laurel leaves, and are often seen on portrait drawings of favourite models, friends, and the like.
