Notes | Princess Charlotte Augusta (1796-1817) was the only daughter of George, Prince of Wales (later George IV) and Caroline of Brunswick. Her father virtually ignored her, but was infuriated by her breaking off her engagement to William, Prince of Orange in 1813. She married instead, Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg in May 1816, but died just over a year later in childbirth. The drawing is likely to have been made about 1797. | Presented by J Leslie Wright1953, received on his death, 1954. |
