Notes | One story about the origin of rings is specifically about the use of the signet ring. This particular type of ring is believed to have developed from the cylindrical seals used to imprint the wax that was used to seal a letter. These seals were first worn around the neck like a pendant, or even around the arm, but eventually reduced in size and could then be worn on the finger. | | Presented by Doctor Joan Evans, 1962. |
