Notes | A rare set of 11 painted roundels in a turned box decorated with the Tudor coat of arms. Roundels were used at the end of banquets, possibly as a serving platter for fruit and sweetmeats, or, more likely as a means of providing after dinner entertainment. In this way each guest would select a roundel and read or sing the verse which is painted on it. | | Purchased from Edward H Pinto, 1965. |
