Notes | Most working engineering models are made out of metal. This unusual example, however, is almost completely made of wood. The model is of a marine engine which was patented in 1879 and 1886 by Gustav Bremme of Liverpool. The frame is made from mahogany and pine, with the moving parts, including most of the nuts and bolts, made of boxwood. It is worked by turning the side handle. It is dated 1887. | Purchased from Edward H Pinto, 1965. |
