Notes | This carved wooden collar was worn by a goat or sheep in the Alps. One of the sounds which we have lost from the English countryside is that of the tinkling of animal bells as they graze the meadows. This collar comes from the Tyrol region of Austria and Italy and would originally have had a bell suspended from the base. It is made from pine and has chip carved decoration. | Purchased from Edward H Pinto, 1965. |
