Notes | This halfpenny token was engraved and struck by John Gregory Hancock for Messrs. Roe & Co. The likeness of Charles Roe was taken from his monument at Christ Church, Macclesfield, which he built in 1775. Hancock was a skilfull engraver working in Birmingham during the latter part of the eighteenth and early part of the nineteenth centuries.
