Notes | The chapel at St Mary's College, Oscott, Birmingham was consecrated on 29th May 1838 and the college celebrated it's Jubilee in 1888. Founded by Sir Henry Weedall it existed to provide Catholic instruction and a good education for its students. The new site of St Mary's College, to the north east of the city, had been chosen for a larger and more suitable structure to accommodate the increasing numbers of students. This new building had many of its internal decorations designed and directed by the young Augustus Welby Pugin. | | Purchased from Oscott College. |
