'The Abundance of Egypt' is catalogued as the second print to have been produced by Hunt. It was published in the portfolio 'Etchings for the Art Union of London by the Etching Club' in 1857.

There is a pencil sketch of this subject executed in Gizeh in April 1854 which is in the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, and which is turn is related to the painting of 'The Afterglow in Egypt', Southampton Art Gallery.
