Heathfield Hall,was built between 1787-90 for the engineer James Watt (1737-1819). The Hall was designed by Samuel Wyatt. This painting shows the garret at Heathfield Hall where Watt kept his scientific equipment and library with which he amused himself in the declining years of his life. The Hall was demolished in 1927.
