Geoffrey Swindell applies a complex series of processes to his precise, clearly defined forms to achieve a rich depth of colour and contrasts in texture. He has compared himself to a jeweller, spending long periods of time working on the surface finish of his pieces.'I make precise engineered forms and then soften them with an organic quality of surface by using various combinations of glazes, sandblasting and lustres. My sources of inspiration are the forms and surface quality of marine forms, tin toys, fragmented and eroded metal, science fiction hardware images and fossils. |
