This shawl pin of silver and silver gilt, is a reduced size version of the Queen's brooch, the design was registered on 17th December 1849. The original 7th century Irish ring-brooch of was found in County Cavan and is now in the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin. A copy of it was presented to Queen Victoria, hence its name.
