Notes

This necklace forms part of a parure or set of matching jewellery. The stone is moss agate, a clear stone with green moss-like strands running through it. The strands are called dendrites (from the Greek 'dendron' for a tree), and are not actually moss but a chlorite or manganese oxide.

Presented by Mrs Anne Hull Grundy, 1981.
