Notes | Little is known about the artist, except that she was a star pupil at the Birmingham School of Municipal Art in the early 20th century. She was awarded a silver medal by the Board of Education in 1903, for her initial design for this panel. Her relative anonymity is typical of many female students at that time, and of the Arts & Crafts Movement in Birmingham, where individual success at the school did not guarantee a long term career. | Presented by Mrs Anne Hull Grundy, 1982. |
