Notes

The style, colour and location of the painting make it a 'Camden Town' picture, it was painted in Gore's rooms at 31 Mornington Crescent. In 1911 a group of younger artists led by Gore, Charles Ginner, Robert Bevan and Harold Gilman formed the Camden Town Group. All four were interested in French Impressionist painting. Their subjects were everyday interiors and street scenes often based on the then working class area of North London.

Purchased with grant-in-aid from the Victoria and Albert Museum, 1983.
