Notes | The hardwood, Buxus Sempervirens produces a very dense and close grained wood which is particularly good for carving small and precise items such as combs. It is also a choice wood for turners and has been used to make many small decorative items such as snuff boxes and chess pieces. Box trees growing in southern Europe and Asia produce the best timber for woodcarvers. | |
