Notes | Bernard Leach and Janet Darnell married in 1955 even though they were two highly independent spirits, with strong and differing views on the type of pots that they wanted to make.Janet Leach's work was informed by the aesthetic of Japanese country pottery. The most distinctive features of her vessels are the vigorously applied treacle thick glazes that relieved the massive forms of her dark, often black stoneware pots. | | On loan from The Keatley Trust |
