Notes | This gold coin is attributed to a Celtic tribal group called the Dobunni, that was based on the Gloucestershire-Worcestershire area. The man named on the obverse of the coin is presumed to have been the tribal ruler in the early to middle first century AD. 'Bodvoc' is an abbreviated form of his name, but we have no evidence how it should be expanded. | Presented by the Friends of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, 1993. |
