Tuesday 26th June 1956'I had an invitation to tea to Mr and Mrs Hoods. After tea Mr Hood took me for a walk across Kings Norton golf course to an old brick barn that stands in a very high and commanding position. It will be considered as subject for a painting or for a pen and ink for a Christmas card. We also went by his car into Kings Norton village to look at an old chapel that is a now a newspaper shop'.Saturday 29th June 1957'Last year Mr W M Hood talked about a possible subject for this years Christmas card. The newspaper shop in Kings Norton - it was once a chapel was thought to be worth consideration. I have been thinking about getting over there for some time and today had arranged to go. I packed my tackle last night. Today just before I set out there was a letter from Mr Hood saying that he hoped I should be able to help him this year - and what is more strange is that when I tool a photo and then herd a pleasant greeting from Mr Hood.Sunday 30th June 1957'.... I went to Kings Norton this morning - had 2 attempts to start work - but each time rain started to fall - so I came home - changed into my old suit and did a bit of work in the garden before dinner'.Saturday 6th July 1957'A very warm sunny morning. I went to Kings Norton.Sunday 7th July 1957'Dull, cloudy, threatening with occasional intervals of sunshine and some showers. I spent the morning at Kings Norton'. Thursday 10th October 1957'I had a half day - lovely sunny day - spent it at Kings Norton trying to get details about the old chapel - that is now a paper shop. And also making some notes of Kings Norton church. So that I can finish my drawing for a possible Christmas card'. Extracts from the diaries of Frank Taylor Lockwood.
