Notes

Junction house is an example of a standard canal tollhouse. The windows at the front enabled the toll master to monitor the oncoming traffic. Sunday 27th July 1958'A dull sort of day. Arthur and Ella went on the outer circle to Bournville in the morning. I went with them as far as the Bredon intending to do some more work at the drawing of the 'canal tollhouse' but I never got there. It drizzled and so I stared a small sketch of a bridge in my sketch book but had only got it roughed in when more rain came on....'.'
Saturday 2nd August 1958'I went to the 'tollhouse' by the canal at Kings Norton in the morning to get a few last details for my pen and ink drawing'. Extracts from the diaries of Frank Taylor Lockwood.

Presented by Arthur Lockwood and Jean Barnsby.
