Frank Taylor Lockwood did not have to go far to find a suitable subject to sketch or paint as he frequently produced images of where he lived. His watercolours of municipal houses and suburban gardens are an interesting contrast to his watercolours of farms, cottages and fields.August 20th 1945'....The weather over the week was far from ideal. It was so dull all the time. On the Wednesday it rained all morning - -very heavy rain too. I did a sketch from the bedroom window...... I did not do much sketching. My most successful effort was a thatched cottage at Hampden'. Extract from the diaries of Frank Taylor Lockwood.

Presented by Arthur Lockwood and Jean Barnsby.
