Notes | This pair of elaborately dressed dolls on a circular polished base are called 'gudda guddi'. They represent a Pakistani wedding couple in traditional dress, the groom collecting the bride from her parents' home. Their bodies are constructed of padded cotton cloth, reinforced with wire. The male doll wears a white salwar kameez, carries a cloth bundle on his head, and holds a staff and a water pot. His bride wears a red and green wedding outfit in traditional Pakistani or North Indian style. | | Presented by Makhdoom Chisti, 1997. |
