Notes | This lamp would have been a popular, fun object in a 1960's living room. Today we might call it 'kitsch' or even bad taste! During the 1960s, the generation born after World War II had grown up to be an affluent, demanding consumer society. Mass production, new materials (especially plastic) and a throwaway attitude meant that the objects they filled their homes with were very different to those found in their parents homes a couple of decades earlier. | | Presented by Mary Millett, 1997. |
