Notes | Dodd's work is characterised by an easy but vigorous freedom in both throwing and decoration. Like Jim Malone, Dodd acknowledges the influence of Oriental prototypes and Mediaeval English pots in the production of wheel thrown, high fired stonewares. This pot is a fine example of their strongest characteristic; the individual glazes developed from unrefined raw materials found locally in Dorset; in this case, oak and ash wood. | | Presented by the Friends of Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery. |
