Notes | The American artist Jim Dine has worked in most print media, though 'The Tool Box' remains a rare screenprinting project. He produced a series of collages which the master printer, Chris Prater, had to interpret. Though Dine today is somewhat hesitant about what he describes as the 'reproductive' results, the final portfolio remains a dynamic example of mixed-media image-making. Building on the idea of a box of associated memories Dine brought together photographs and modern materials, such as acetate, silver foil, card and fluorescent paper and connected these with his own history and the history of his young family. | | Presented by the artist, 1999. |
