This is a self portrait of the artist, her image reflected in a dressing table mirror propped against a table in her studio. The image is fragile and isolated amidst the inanimate clutter of her materials. On the floor are discarded surgical gloves which she wears to protect herself from the toxic paints which she applies with her hands and palette knives. She writes:
'A room is a real space, landscape nebulous, endless. Each day I go to the studio to paint across a muddy yard to a barn converted in the middle of Wales. This is my reality, to struggle every day with each large canvas and let it become what it becomes.'
