Notes | Bevan wrote, 'Rafters started with seeing Windsor Castle after the fire. The sadness, not the destruction, interested me - the opening up, the cables and everything exposed. It was a photograph in a newspaper, and made me become conscious of other rafters visible elsewhere.' | | Purchased by the Contemporary Art Society Special Collection Scheme with funds from the Arts Council Lottery Fund and The Friends of Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, 2000. |
