Meadows was studio assistant to Henry Moore from 1936-39 and remained a close friend. He was Professor of Sculpture at the Royal College of Art from 1960-1980.
The slender, fragile legs of this seated figure contrast sharply with the bulky armoured mass of the torso. The bulbous shoulders with their jutting spikes obscure the head.
