Notes | Professor Black: 'Decorating and designing garments has always come naturally to me, partly because of my training and also because it has been imbedded in me from an early age.
Every time I design a new costume, I learn something new, and every year the carnival costumes get bigger and better.
I have been making carnival costumes for 16 years. My assistants help me. They are members of the community who give their time freely throughout the year to help make the Handsworth carnival the special event that it is.'
