Throughout his career, Marsden has investigated ideas of form and material through particular series of works. The End is one of a group of pieces considering solidity, geometry and an almost architectural form. Unusually, the works have been executed in solid mild steel, cut to shape with an industrial grinder, rather than being hollow forms constructed from sheet metal.
