Notes

The four 'treasures of study' are represented here: writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper. There are also two large volumes of books. These objects are typical of those belonging to an intellectual. The Chinese plum blossom and an axe incorporating a brush symbolise ten years of dedicated study and the power of writing.

Franklin Bequest, 2006.
