Notes | The term 'Famille Rose' refers to the glaze and means 'the pink family' and describes the use of pink enamel.
The Buddhist faith has 18 'arhats', or disciples, of Buddha. There are 12 arhats represented here. Holding the lion is Vajraputra. Legend says he was a hunter. After he became a Buddhist, he never killed again. The lion came to thank him for his kind heart and remained by his side.
