Notes | Chinese officials probably used these bowls as yellow is the colour of government. By contrast, the colour of the imperial court is yellow gold. The dragon symbolises the emperor, imperial power and authority. There are also peaches representing long life. The ruyi plant is a symbol of good fortune. These are good luck bowls which carry the blessing of Emperor Kangxi. | | Franklin Bequest, 2006. |
